boingboing.net/2009/11/03/secret-copyright-tre.htmlSome of the comics on this thread on boingboing had some pretty good ideas, particularly comment 42 (copied below) What if someone set up some sort of paypal or something that anyone could donate to, and then after we collect some money send it all to the people in charge of this bullshit and say something like "How much is the RIAA or whoever paying you to put out this bullshit bill that will help no one? If we pay you more than they do will you reconsider this treaty and think about how bad it would be for the internet as a hole? This might not be as much as they are giving you, but it's a start. Please think about what you are doing." Anyone think that would help? Do any of you have any other ideas?

I honestly think that would be a bad idea. That's essentially attempting to bribe someone. No good.

Well then use the donations to buy some lobbyists. March on Washington or something. But bribery is exactly what the major record labels and other people supporting this treaty are doing. Fighting fire with fire seems like the right thing to do.
What about the artists who tried to put their OWN videos on youtube but their record label filed a copyright complaint against them and the artist was forced to remove THEIR video featuring THEIR song. Beyonce comes to mind, for example. Can we get them in on this?

That might be a good idea, but as for my personal opinion, I'm against buying people out.

Even if that's an easy way to get the things done it would be like fighting corruption corrupting the bad guys. That would last a while but on long terms we'll have nothing.
We'll fight for an Idea not for a victory

True, but if we lose this battle, if we lose the internet as we know it, we can't continue to fight for the idea.

Ok here is what you do to win this shit :
This is all about money. Stop giving these cocksmokers any.
Movies? fuck that. sneak in if you need to see it, or steal when its ripped. Music? Steal it. Burn it. Donate money to the A R T I S T. You make music? sell it digitally. Press it yourself. No contracts.
They are doing this because they are pissed that people are stealing from them. People are stealing because the economy is shit and seriously WHO THE FUCK HAS 10$ FOR A MOVIE? STEAL MORE, PAY LESS.

With what power to enforce it? It will be hard to raise taxes to police the wild west of the internet. How to pay lobbyists if no money is rolling in?
im not saying this is the END ALL , but if you are serious about getting off your ass and doing this - you will need to stop supporting all forms of media that is regulated by large companies.

Get Fox new involved, the second you mention "Big Government" they can mobilize thousands to publicly rally against it.

yes, bribery is what they do in a nutshell. but since we as anons aren't big business, we can't get away with it.
as to the bill, there's something called "civil disobedience", at least in the US. that is, before they find a way to pass a law banning another part of the constitution.
